Your daily Christian life will be more successful if you practice powerful spiritual habits. As a result, you must practice them consistently until they become ingrained in your mind. In your Christian journey, you must form various habits over the years, but 3 powerful spiritual practices: to know, love and walk in truth are essential for a peaceful and victorious Christian life:

Know the Truth

In chapter fourteen of the Gospel of John, Jesus says: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 ESV).

Firstly, you need to know Jesus Christ, who is the Truth. You can know him by accepting Him into your life and making Him your Lord and Savior (Rom 10:9). Next, once you know Him, you begin to learn from Him and about Him by studying and meditating on the Bible, which is the truth. The Holy Spirit will help you understand the truth by revealing it to your heart, as Jesus promised in John 16:13a “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth…” Besides being a Person, Jesus Christ, the truth is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the whole message of God in the Bible.

In John 8:32, Jesus promises that knowing the truth will liberate you. “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” When you know the truth, you will be free of the things that hinder your victory. By creating this habit, you can quickly cultivate the following practice: love the truth.

Love the Truth

Your next habit is to love Jesus Christ, the Truth, and His Word. Is love a habit? You need to apply and cultivate it in your life often enough, so it becomes a part of your life.

The question is, “Do you love Jesus”? What does it even mean to love Him? It is straightforward: Jesus taught us how to love Him in John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments”. So, obeying Jesus is loving Him. What commandments is Jesus referring to? Jesus said in John 15:12, This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbour as yourself.” Luke 10:27 (ESV)

John goes further when he writes in 1 John 4:20, “If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen”. Loving the Truth means walking in the truth, which is the next habit you need to form in your life.

Walk in the Truth

From the previous habit, we can conclude that walking in the truth means to do the Word to obey His commandments.

Knowing and loving the Truth will inevitably result in walking in the Truth. These three habits are interconnected and inseparable, as one cannot exist without the other.

We are responsible for applying what we know. So James reminds us in James 1: 22, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” Furthermore, John  expressed joy when he heard that his spiritual children were walking in the Truth in 3 John 1:4, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

To Know Love and Walk in Truth

Therefore remember the 3 powerful spiritual practices: to know, love and walk in truth are essential for a peaceful and victorious Christian life. Ultimately, knowing Jesus Christ and loving Him means walking in Him by loving others and practising doing what the Word says. These habits will add to your spiritual health and growth and result in a victorious life in Christ.
