How many sessions will I need?
There’s no set number of sessions. Some people come for short-term support, while others choose longer-term counselling. This depends on what you’re experiencing and what you would like to work on. I usually suggest starting with six sessions, after which we’ll review how things are going and decide together on the next steps.
How often will sessions take place?
Sessions are usually held weekly at a time that is convenient for you, and that is available in my schedule. In times of crisis, more frequent sessions may be recommended initially. As counselling comes to an end, sessions may move to every other week
Is Counselling Confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is an essential part of counselling, and what you share in sessions is kept private. I will not share your information without your written consent, except where required by law. There are a few exceptions:
- Immediate risk of harm to yourself or others.
- Suspected abuse or neglect of a child or elder.
- Legal requirements, including court orders or subpoenas.
If any of these apply, I will discuss this with you whenever possible, unless doing so would compromise safety or breach legal obligations.
What if I am late or need to cancel?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged at the full session fee. I understand that emergencies may arise, and I am open to making exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
If you are running late, let me know as soon as possible. If I haven’t heard from you within the first 15 minutes of your session, it will be considered a no-show, the session will be forfeited, and the full fee will apply.
