Every year, about mid-winter, I want to move from my city and country to a tropical island somewhere! So I, indeed, am not praying or praising while I am complaining about the cold.
However, funny enough, twenty-eight years later, I am still here. Why? Because the seasons are changing, winter is soon over, and a beautiful springtime arrives, making me forget about winter’s harshness. My memories of freezing winter fade away in the sunshine and beautiful spring and summer! Until next winter… and so it goes on.
After all, life is not only a long journey, as I like to describe it, but it is also an ever-changing journey. Think about it, just like the seasons, we are constantly changing. Thus, we grow older, the children grow up, lose jobs, get jobs, prosper, lose loved ones, move, divorce, get married, and so on. And like I have to adjust to winter, we all have to adjust to life changes too. But am I praying or praising in the process of change?
A wise man once said, as we read in Ecclesiastes 3:1- 8, that there are seasons and times for everything under that sun.
In Eccl 3:1, “For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:”(ESV).
The Word also teaches us in Proverbs 3: 6,” In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (ESV). In all my ways and all the seasons of life!
In All Seasons of Life: Get Praying or Praising
James chapter 5, verse 13 reads: “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.”(ESV).
Are you cheerful and in a place of prosperity right now? Praise the Lord and thank Him!
Or are you suffering and in a place of adversity? Pray to the Lord and seek Him!
Ultimately, in whatever place you are now, acknowledge God in Jesus Christ in all your ways!
He delights in your thanksgiving, and He is merciful in your sufferings! God is good all the time!
After all, is said and done, what do I do about winter? I count my blessings; warm clothes, shoes, food and shelter. I pray for mercy. I praise the Lord, and I wait for spring!
Blessings and love,
Mareli
